INTERNSHIP

Location: Lynnwood, WA

I worked during Summer 2019 on the junior's buying team at Zumiez as an Assistant Buying Intern. Within the first three months, I was also able to assist on the men's buying team, footwear buying team, Canada buying team, merchandising, planning, and web departments. Expecting to be job shadowing most of my time, I worked hard and showed my passion as I was given more responsibility and projects than I could have anticipated. Ended my internship, I assorted my own private label category and held meetings to share my emerging brand and licensing research. After moving back to college in Fall, I was asked back to intern during winter break.

During my time at Zumiez, I learned multiple aspects of buying from working with different categories. I can confidently say I have the knowledge and skill to confidently assort, allocate, and merchandise junior's apparel, men's apparel, and footwear. Learning how to think like a buyer and forecast trends are skills I gained from sitting in vendor meetings and buying product. I experienced communicating with various brands and designers, as well as preparing for sales meetings and strengthening my time management skills by working on multiple projects at once.
